CTTATCHMAN, foaled Ist November, » t 1878, and is now rising live years old ; sire Fowler's Wallace, dam Maggie ; is a rich brown, is IH^ hands high, has a clean, flinty bone and nice hair, aud is very active. His sire, the pure imported Clydesdale horse. Fowler's Wallace, bred by Mr Donald McKinley, Wouldham Hall, near Gloucester, out of a pure Clydesdale mare, bred by Mr J. N. Fleming, Campbelton, Scotland ; her sire, the celebrated horse Lofcy Wallace, gained several lirst prizes before leaving the Old Country. Miiggie was bred by Mr Sutherland, Taieri, Otago, out of a Napoleon mare, by Sir William Wallace (imported). Sir WMliam Wallace bred by William Anderson, Esq., Kirkmichael, Ayrshire, out of Brisk, by Garibaldi. As a yearling took first prize |at Maybole. Kirkmichael, and Glasgow, aud second at Ayr. As a two-year-old, second at Ayr and Glasgow, and also second at the Highland Society's Show held that year at Edinburgh ; and when only three days lauded m Otago took second prize against horses of all age* at the Taieri, although only 2£ years old. Diomtules was awarded first prizo at the Wanganui A. and P. Association's Show as a sire best calculated to improve the breed of saddle horsus. Diotnedes is a rich bay with black points, standing lfig- hands high, with immense bone and muscle, good action, is 7 years old, and is considered to be one of the best cross-couotry horses m New Zealand.
