Choral Seciety.
A general meeting of the members of %he above society was held m the Bank Chambers last evening, when the following ladies and gentU-men were present : — Mesdames Snelson, Hoe, Leigh, Palmerson, Bell, Park, McDowell W., and Henderson ; Misses Watson, Glapperton, Scofield, Walton, and Weeks; Messrs Snelson, Cohen, Watson, Walton, R. Johnson,. Hanua J. C, Dungan, Bett, Keel m« ?, Weeks and Healy. Mr Snelson was' .voted to the chair and ' having stated the. business of the meeting called on the' secretary (pro tern), to read the minutes of provisional committee meetings, reports and rules, &c. The rules as read and amended were adopted on the motion of Mr Weekes. The whole of the minutes were also > passed. | CORRESPONDENCE. From T. E. Walton, m reply to application for inf'oimation as to cost of use of piano, stating that same could be used by Society free of charge and only to be kept m tune. Resolved— To heartily thank Mr Walton for his generous offer. Prom Mr'T. S. Hoe re use of Hall and charge for' same to be used weekly. — Offer accepted. From Mr J. C. Hanna, consenting to act as Treasurer, and help the Society m any way m his power. From Miss Boylan, consenting to act as pianiite. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers were proposed and elected to hold office for twelve months :— President — D. H. Macarthur, Esq., M.H.R.; Vice- President, His Worship the Mayor, A Ferguson, Esq. ", Conductor, Mr M.Cohen; Treasurer, Mr J. C. Hanna; Secretary, Mr W. U. Healy; Pianiste, Miss Bnylan. . Committee — Mesdames Snelson and Leigh, and Messrs Snelson, Watson, R. Johnson, and Kendall. Resolved — That the first concert be a miscellaneous one to be given about the end of February, admission to be free by ticket only. Frist rehearsal to be held on the first Wednesday m January. Resolved to hold weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays; commencing at 8 o'clock. Mr Wollerman and Mr Park were proposed as hondr ary members by Mr Snelson. Mr L. Abraham was proposed as a working member by Mr Hanna. Mr Walton gave m his name as -an honorary member. Those present were requested by the chairman to canvass for honorary and working: members. A vote of thanks to the chair brought the meeting to a close.
