The Victorian Parliament -was prorogued to-day by his Excellency Sir Henry Loch, who, m his so^ech, expressed regret that the Federal Enabling Bill had not been passed. Sydney, Friday. Mr Dibbs made his Financial Statement m the Legislative Assembly tonight. He announced that the deficiency at the end of the }'ear was £1,052, b'14, which sum the Government proposed to meet by issue of Treasury Biilc. no alteration being intended m the fiscal policy of the Colony. Mr Dibbs attributes the deficiency to the exceptional drought which lias been prevalent during the past year. The items which go to make up the deficiency are falling off m the lands and railways, and the expenses incurred m the despatch of tho Soudan Contingent. The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Eotomahana sailed for Auckland this afternoon. Brisbane, Saturday News from Townsville states that two more deaths from cholera have occurred on. board the'"' D.oruncia. There are four further cases which are expected to assume serious developments, but the other patients soeui no worse than they were yesterday.
