Totara is by old Diomede-s, out of Waimea, by Sir Hercules, out of Flora Mclvor, by Emigrant. Old diomedes by Hesperus, out of Diomedie by YVcatherbit. Old Diomedes was the sire of Kapapo, Malvina. Kconoiny, and Parawhenna. Waimea, tins dam of Manuka, Papapa, Puriai, and Waiuui, all or whom have won several important races on the turf. Plover, by Sir Hercules ; Plover, the dam of Malviua, Hercules, Dan O'Councll, and oilier fast horses. Diomedes was awarded first prize at the Wanganui A. aud P. Association's Show as a sire best calculated to improve the breed of saddle horses. Diomedes is a rich bay with black points, standing IG^ hands high, with immense bone and muscle, good action, is 7 years old, and is considered to be one of the best cross-country horses m New Zealand. Mis sire, the pure imported Clydesdale horse. Fowler's Wallace, bred by Mr Donald Me Kin ley, Wouldhain Hall, near (.Tlouoester, out of a pure Clydesdale mare, bred by Mr J. X. Fleming, C'atupbcltou, {Scotland ; her sire, the celebrated I horse Lofty Wallace, gained several first prizes before leaving the Old Country. Maggie was bred by Mr Sutherland, Taieri, Otayo. out of a Napoleon mare, by Sir William Wallace (imported). Sir William Wallace bred by William Andersou, Esq., Kirkmichaci. Ayrshire, out of Brisk, by Garibaldi. Asa yearling took first prize at Maybole, Kirkmichaul, aud Glasgow, and second at Ayr. As a two-yearjpld, second at Ayr and (! lasgow, aud also second at the Highland Society's Show held that year at Edinburgh ; and when only three days landed m Otago took second prize against horses of all agps at the Taieri, although only 2 J years old.
