A Wellington Issuing Company.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, Thursday. For some time past a few enterprising local residents have been making arrangements for the establishment of a fishing company to tako and cure fish for export m the Pelorous Sound, and waters m the neighbourhood of Welling ton. Their labours so far have boen brought to a successful issue, and they will be m a position to commence active operations m a very short time. An English expert, Mr K. B. Somerset, has been brought from Home to superintend the operations, and he has already -mswlo a discovery that the waters of the Pelorns abound with true sardine. The company's works will be situated m Annkoaßay (Guard's- Bay) where they have obtained ten acres on perpetual lease. Not only do the company intend to cure fish, Out they purpose undertaking thy manufacture of fish manure from shark and other coarser fish, which are to be found m the sounds opposite Wellington m great abundance. The bonus for the first 200 tons of cured fish exported from New Zealand amounts to £1800, for the first 1000 tons £4700, and during the next s >veu years the Government will be liable for a sum exceeding £29,1)00 for bonuses on fish exports. Tho limit of quantity on which bonuses can be paid during that period for the export of cured fish is 6000 tons, aud the amount payable on that quantity is £29,100.
