A Napier Libel Case.

Grubb (late postmaster here) v. Evening Neios Company, on the ground of a strong feeling existing inthe class from which the special jury were drawn against the paper m question. After considerable discussion the matter was ordered to stand over temporarily. During tho proceedings the Chief Justice referred m strong terms to what' he termed a disgraceful, scandalous article m Saturday's News written with the patent object of influencing tbq court m this application. He said, the article was a contempt of court m com-, meriting on a ense, sub judice, and the tone of Hio language wag very reprehen* sible. He added that he had instructed the registrar to forward a copy to the Attorney General, calling his attention to the article. .
