Mr Bryant was busy to-day distributing- his 1886 Almanacs, The pictures are unusually good, and will be greatly admired by the receivers. One especially, a large size painting of a lady affectionately stroking her pet horse's head, and m the back ground sliovntiK Windsor Castle, is remarkably artistic, nnd would make a pleasing wall decoration tor any house. The other pictures are called '• Gathering of the Clans," " Homo Ruler " and " Gipsy Queen." Mr Boucicault visitod Sir George Grey at Kawau. He leaves for Kan Francisco to-day. Messrs Bassett, Beaven, and otherp had all tho mortars procurable m town going yesterday, pounding stone brought m from the Pohangina.
