It is stated now that this new Church at Jerusalem, a settlement up the Wanpnnui river will be., opened by Bishop. Redwood on Christinas day. Carpenters have gone up to day to erect the seats and when these are finished the building will be ready for occupation. Owing to alterations which have been found necessary on the " Tnhua ''. the new steamer being Huilt for the Wanganui River Steam Navigation Company the launching m not likely to take place for another fortnight. Mr Murray i« confident that the boat will bo finished within the time allowed by the contract. The Mutual Improvement Society met i m the Hall last evening to pass accounts, to appoint a committee to draw up a programme for the opening of the next session, and 'other details that the closing of the term entailed. It was resolved that the next session open on the first Monday of April, 1886. The President will preach the " closing sermon "on behalf of the Society on the evening of December 20th. i
