At midnight on Saturday a lire broke out at Mackie's coacn factory, Auckland, doing? damage to the extent of £1,200. Mackie was uninsured. The Wanganui Herald has the following" :An advertisement appears m the Manawatu Standard, which shows that the Bassett-Sharpe Goldmining Company have abundant hopes. They have chosen as the name for their company the Mount Morgan Goldmining Company, evidently with the idea that the richness of the original Mount Morgan m Queensland, is to be expected at the Pohangina. The extent of Laid applied for is 3.3 "acres, the amount of capital is £10,000, the proposed mode of working the land, mining, crushing and smelting, and the term fot which the lease is required 15 years. ' .
