Ultimately' Warden Akers proposed, and Warden Sly seconded, that the sum of £120 each be allocated to Nos. 1, 4, and 5 Wards, out of the grant. As an amendment, Warden Mathieson proposed— That the matter be postponed until next meeting, m order to allow . Warden Edwards to he .present, as his Ward was most interested m the matter. Seconded by the Chairman. The first motion was carried by 3 to 2. Notice of motion was tabled by the Chairman' — That the debentures now payable by the Manawatu Road Board under the Road iflid Bridges Construction Act be adjusted and levied as debts against the Wards which have had tho moneys expended m them, and that the amounts be recovered by special rates levied upon the properties within «uch Wards. ' It was resolved on the motion of Warden Mathieson— That tenders be called for the construction of the Main Road Drain Kairanga, and work it m with the contract now being carried on. Resolved— That tenders be called for metalling 40 chains of Waldegrave's Boad. Resolved— That tenders be called for certain pieces of metalling on Fitzherbert Boad East. Ifc was pointed out jby Warden Sly that their only course m the matter would be not to collect the rates of £7 10s for next year. ; Mr J. Lin ton applied to have the rate on section 419 altered from on i&OOO to £1200, stating that sawmill on section had been removed. The Cler kwas instructed to reply to effect that the Board had no power to deal with the matter.
