Tho Farmers' Column contaiiiH a varhstj of useful information, and the "Skfet'ehei* contair.s an extract from Chambers' Journal on " North Atlantic • Icebergs." The portions under the several headings of Nature and Science, are very Tendable, and m the L.idies' Column will , be found •• Home Cookery," by Miss A Griggs, teacher at the Edinburgh School of Domestic Economy, also '• House Knowledgc|for Boys/ domestic recipes, etc, etc. In the Poet's Corner will be found versos " The Dying Actor," >l A Lover's Tiff," and "Tho Djiuns," by Victor Huao. We are still m receipt of expressions of satisfaction with the matter, general arrangement, and sustained interest of the various portions of our Saturday Supplement, further improvements m which it is probable will lie carried out : beforc long. W« hope shortly to announce the commencement of si new a-rial tale, aud the publishers inform us that they are sparing no pains to again hif the popular taste as success fully as m ihe Blory completed last Saturday. We continue to receive from many sources, congratulations on tho position the Standard holds as the only newspaper m the district, or on thn \V*st Coant, which issues weekly gratuitidisty to subscribers a fourtaen-columti supplemont. It is very satisfactory to ourselves to learn the favour m which both the paper itself and the Supplement, are held by all classes of readers. ■
