His sire, the pure imported Clydesdale horse. Fowler's Wallace, bred by Mr Donald McKinley, Wouldham Hall, near Gloucester, out of a pure Clydesdale mare, bred by Mr J. N. Diomedea himself is the winner of the Wanganui Welter Weight-for-ago Hurdle Race, beating Reform, New Year, Dhudeen, ParneU, aud Christmas ; won the Turakina Handicap Hurdles, beating a large field ; and ran a good third for the Wanganui Grand National Steeplechase, carrying 12at 71bs., giving the winner, Ruahine, Ist slus., i>nd the second horse, Dhudeen, 2st 51bs., there* by showing that he is a weight carrier, and has exceptionally good staying power. Diomedes was awarded first prize at the Wangauui A. aud P. Association's Show as a sire best calculated to improve the breed of saddle horses. ; Diomedes is a rich hay with black points, standing 16$ hands high, with immense hone and muscle, good action, is 7 years old, and is considered to be one of the best cross-country horses m New Zealand.
