The meeting was of a stormy nature, and the creditors who were present are very reticent as to what took place. It is believed that the liabilities of the firm will amount to nearly a quarter of a million. Already there are signs of trouble m Spain. The Carlists and the adherents of Queen Isabella are preparinir to uphold their claims ; while Senor Hiuz Zorilla, the leader of the insurrectionary movement m Spain m August, 1883, and who subsequently left the country, is now returning. ! Tt is intended to amalgamate the Anglo- Australasian Land and Mortgage Company with the Land and Mortgage Company of Sydney. , | Messrs Tyser and Co., who are" j endeavouring to break up the Australian shipping ring, are urging colonial importers to give positive instructions to their English agents ! to ship all goods by their vessels. It is expected that the British expedition which left here will reach Mandaiay, the Burmese capital tomorrow. Cairo, Nov. 28. General Cameron reports that a force of some 800 Soudanese has made its appearance before Knosbay. The British forces are actively engaged m making preparations to resist them.
