Boys under the same limit of atje will also be discharged. It is belioved that many employers of large numbers of young girls will imitate his example. The New Zealand Herald understands that Mr Halcombo, who has been for several years manager of the operations of the Patetere Estate, leaves shortly for Wellington, and will probably, take up his residence again at Feilding, The Tauranga Evening News says : — "The blight that has so prejudicially ■affected the peach trees for the last three years appears to be dyiner out. The peach trees show no signs of being affected by the blight so far, and where the trees have been preserved from its effect m past years they are bearing heavy crops of fruit,"
