Mr West stated while thanking the ratepayers last evening that he had made one friend through the election contest. His opponent, Mr Ferguson, and himself had not been on social terms previously, but they had to-day shaken hands and would henceforth work harmoniously together. Mr Reed notifies m this issue having taken over the butchery business lately conducted by Mr Miller. Mr Reed's courtesy and attention to customers will no doubt gain him a fair share of support.
