MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1885. GOLD PEOSPECTING IN EARNEST.
The Post has the following : — " The directors ot the Golden Crown claim at 'L'erawhiti certainly deserve greai credit for the perseverance and pluck they have shown m steadily carrying on- operations to test the real value of their property as a gold producing one. Amidst much discouragement, and under great difficulties, they have worked on, and now, at last; it would appear that the capabilities^ of Terawhiti as a gold-field are to be submitted to a fair and thorough test. The Albiori battery is to be put m order, the berdans are to be erected, competent men are to be obtained to conduct the crushing, and 30Q;tona of stone are to be putjthrpugh the stampers., The result of this experiment will be looked for with great interest, and is a matter of the utmost importance to Wellington. If, as there is good reason to believe will be the case, the crushing proves" that Terawhiti j really does possess reefs, bearing gpl^ m sufficient quantity to pay for working, , the , effect wilL be ver.y great m advancing the prosperity of Wellingtonv>and it will be mainly due to the direptors and shareholdecs of the Golden Crown Company, who have contiuiied paying calls sp hopefully for so lohj?. 1 " We hope m the course of time 1 to be m a position to write m a similar strain of operations at Pohangina.
