Political News at Home.
(Per Mail Steamer.) A London telegram of October 20, says :— Greek joined Greek m the elec^ toral campaign last. night. All political England is rinsfin^ with the echos of their blows. Mr Chumberlain addressed a political , association^ at Birminghanij and Lord R. Churchill spoke at Kings Lynn; Mr Chamberlain referred to Lord R, Churchill as "the author, of that extraordinary, rigmarole, hia electoral address ;" tl a .penny novelist ;'* and f t: an ignorant school -boy." Lord R: Churchill charged Mr Chamberlain with interested motives, beine; intensely dis-; honest, and flagrantly immoral, and said his radical suggestions were utterly; hopeless and utterly absurd, that they' had no more chance of success than' a project for colonising the moon. Seven; hundred Birmingham workmen marched to Mr Chamberlain's residence on" 'the! 20th. The Chief of Police learning their ; intention, and fearing violence, sent a : large f oroe of police by a shorter route, : and when the procession arrived -at the house they found it surrounded by policemen. A deputation ot three of the unemployed was admitted .to see Mr Chamberlain. Tliey ,flatly accused him of making a, combination with the wealthier classes to" alienate sympathy from the suffering poor for his own personal and political aggrandisement. The men returned to their place of meeting howling against tlje I4heValJead.er.
