YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.

Present : — His "Worship the Mirror, and Crs West, Abrahams, J. King, Ha\v« kins, Wood, and Rush. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Latter read from Messrs Stevens & Gorton, and G. M. Snelson & Co., re market as follows : That Thursday m each alternative week would be a suitable day. A number of reasons were urged m suport of this suggestion. Cr G. F. FOREMAN OF WORKS REPORT. -Formation and metalling of >Norlbstreet "to Boundary Road north finished, since which man been taken from , pit to rake. in, ruts and break atones right through as it had been cut up very much carting it. College-street West formed where required and 11 chains of . same street metalled, leaving about eight chains to be done. A pit is being made m Cook-street to supply graveV for this work. Grey-street to Rangitikei-street is being repaired with broken imetal. Repairs done near cemetery, Ferguson • ! street, and Rangitikei-street ; drain on Boundary. Road made ; culvert placed across Rangitikei Road, spoil from the drain is lying on the side of the road, this will be wanted to make up tne bank on the north side of road ; large culrert will have to be taken out before -next winter and placed level. A good deal . df work requires to be done cleaning but - water tables 'and drain's as soon as work completed m College-streets, water tables m Lombard-street will have to be made, this will wan>tb be ploughed, a plough • -will be required and the borough horses used. These horses have not' done any ploughing before ; the job could be done for £1 without going to this trouble. The hay is all consumed, and chaff will be required soon.
