A CONTRADICTION.
(TO THE EDITOR OF THE STANDARD). Sir, — The following appears in the Wellington Post: —'"The Manawatu Times says that there will soon not be a vacant section all around the Square in Palmerston North. New buildings are being erected in all directions, and new businesses established in that thriving township," I have no time to devote to an enlarged contradiction of the enclosed paragraph taken from the Evening Past of the 22nd, to hand this evening, but it certainly demands an authoritative denial. The inhabitants of the district know the facts of the case too well to attach any importance to the continuous paragraphs on this and kindred subjects, appearing in the said journal. Do you know whether any of that gentleman's friends has a section in the Square for which he badly needs a purchaser ? Possibly. Certain l am that if the Editor of the Evvning Post knew how utterly untrustworthy these paragraphs are, they would not so readily be repeated by that journal. — I am, &c., A Lover of Truth.
