The latest information regarding the strength of parties m France gives the Republicans 301, and Tories (sic) 205 members. In the final ballot for the Senate the Due de Broglie and the Due j ! Decazes were defeated. A Freycinet- j Floquet Cabinet is considered probable. The re-election of M. F. P. Jules Grevy as President of. the Bepublic is considered certain. (REUTER'S TELEGRAMS.") London, Oct. 20. j Sir Eichard Cross, Home Secretary, addressing a meeting of his constituents of South-west Lancashire, at Manchester last night, stated that the Conservative party would take measures for the protection of the colonies, considering them as of equal importance with the remainder of the Empire. The Times this morning states that Mr Bernard has demanded a reply to his ultimatum from King Theebaw within four days' time. Constantinople, Oct. 20. King Milan, of Servia, has refused to receive a mtwonger who was the bearer of an autograph letter from Prince Alex-' ander, of Bulgaria, proposing an entente between the two States.
