LAND MANIA.
We commend to attention the ertract appearing elsewhere, frorq the Napier Evening Nows, m which We disastrous effebts of land fnania 'af« set foVtliL The] same features have; been pointeij'out m these columns frequently. We have always contended that j a hctitious ; .value' ;of land is no evidence ; of material or enduring prosperity^Some maybenefit, but m the end the reaction comes, rand -then the ninety-nine are m distress. Progress, to be sound and permanent must be gradual, not by " leaps and bouhds.' 1 Whatever Value is put upon land, in' the long run it must come back to its' legitimate value; We have seen the effects of forcing the value of land all over this, district, and we do not desire ' to have any recurrence ot either cause or efiect. Our ' opinion is and has been that m this Colony land has, always been, and is now, too dear. Speculaion In township sections is a species of gambling that ia much to be deprecated .
