Wellington -Manawatu Railway.

[Post] The Wellington Manawatu Hue will be opened as far as Plinnnerton on Saturday next, and the company will afford the public an opportunity -of visiting that j delightful locality at a surprisingly cheap j. rate. Pliinmortr>n. is some four x miles beyond the present terminus (Paremata), and 17 nrles from town. It is pleasantly ! situated, and no better place could be j found for spending a holiday away from j the hum of city life. The return fare is only 2s, and if the weather is fine the trpffic should be exceedingly large". There I will be seven trains each way during the day. For the six days ending the 26th Sept., the number of passengers who travelled j on the Wellington -Manawatn Railway j line was 2037. The amount taken during thft same time on account of. goods an I pas&nsrers amounted to £'142 18s 4d. Arrangements are, we believe, being made by which Cobb & Co.'s coach to and from Foxton will shortly run m conjunction with the Wellington-Manawatn i .railway trains between the city and Paremata. This will be a great convenience to travellers by the overland route to Wanganui, and the new time table will also be much more convenient than the present one for residents m the Porirua and Pahautanui districts. The coach train m the morning will leave town at 7 a.m., and the Government has agreed to allow the Wanganui train to wait for an extra quarter of an hour at Foxton for the arrival of the coach.
