The Hutt Tarring Outrage.
(UNITKD FttKSS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, Wednesday. Smith, proprietor of the Post Office Hot»l, recalled, said McLelland was something like the man who accompanied Waltlen when the latter visited the Hotel on the night of the 19th August. Auwie Guliiuime, harnu.id at the Uoyal Hotel, was called, and swore that on the morning of the 20th August, accused called at the Hotel and asked witness for a camelia. Accused told witness he had nicked it iv B.uekley's garden on the preceding night.— lt was not ou the 25th July when she saw Walden. Witness had no communication with him with reference to the subject and did not remember having talktd over the inattor with Mr H. S. Fitzherbert. The evidence taken to-day was not of much importance, and the accused reserving his defence was committed for trial, bail being allowed, himself m £200 and two sureties of £100 each. The accused fourd bail.
