Theatre.
Miss Lizzie Lawrence's Dramatic and Comedy Company opened m the Theatre la?t evening, and performed " Gilbert's Celebrated .Dramatic Contrast." known as "'sweethearts."' The attendance w.as wretchedly small, but the Company carried out the programme as advertised nevertheless,' and were successful' m eliciting unbounded applause from the audience. .Miss .Lawrence is an old favorite m jPalmerston, as is also the talented actor Mr Rede, and wo are sorry that the public did not patronise the entertainment last night as might have been expected. TheCoinpanywill however, perform to-night again, when we have no doubt the attendance will be larger. On Saturday nextwe believe the celebrated and popnlor drama, entitled " East Lynne," will bo produced. The Company is well supported, numbering some 10 artists, and deserve hearty support, as their productions are exceptionally good apd entertaining.
