It is assorted that the Press messages under the new rates wilj not be deferred m transmission, except when the wires are crowded v/ith ordinary work. It is expected thai; the Telegraph Companies will finally conceedo the public rate of eight shillings and twopence per word, and the Government rate of six shillings and one penny. No other reductions are probable. Mrs Thorney croft states that she will make the replica of General Gordon's Btatue for £2500.
