Tallow.— Prices have receded a,further 2s or 2s' 6d per cwt., and at last week's public sale fine mutton sold at 29s Gd, fair to good, 25s to 27s Cd, fine beef, 27s 6d, fair to good ditto 24s Gd to 265, inferior m proportion ; those values are lower than the trade has known peril ips for a hundred years pa3t, but with fiie almost total absence of demand against an enormous home and foreign supply it now appears likely that even 1 >wer rates may prevail. Present stock of Australasian m first hands is 19,500 casks. Frozen Meat.— Our market has been overdone by' the" large stock which has been almost forced on it, and prices have accordingly at -times given away considerably, many good carces of New Zealand mutton having been sold at 4d per pound ; it has; however, now become steadier again, and 4^d to 4sd may be taken to be present value of good Canterbury sheep. • . 7 Grain.— Australian wheat ex granary w now quoted 3Cs per 496 pounds. Cargoes off coast have been sold at from 3/43 to 343 6d'per 480 pounds. New Zealand ■wheat is quoted 32s to 35s per i£)G pounds ex store, oats 26d to 30s per 834 pounds. Superfine Auitralian Hour is quoted 24s to 26d, and New Zealand 20s to 2i3s per 280 pounds ex store.
