GENEROSITY ILLUSTRATED.
_ (TO THE EDITOR OF.TffK STANDAItp). * v SiR,- : -I'n'o*tice"l)y a local m lastriight's .Standard that the Dratnatice Club .are charged i' 2 iOs for the use of the : Hall m connection with the late entertainment m aid of the Ptiblic Library. : I agree with you that under the circumstances the Hall might have been gratutiously let for the evening. In any case the very scrupulous little caretaker might have reduced the charge, as he has previously done for less charitable objects. I believe he informed the club that it was 'not m his power to.' do anything, "that the lessee, Mr Eussell, lived hundreds of miles away,' and all that".' What Bunkum ! The club should, however, nii]<e him pay for the chairs that were' stolen out of the Hall, — I am^ &c M Consistency.
