Hawera, Tuesday. . At the Police Court an old woman wag charged with attempting to commit suicide on Tuesday last by taking poison. .The accused, it appears, wont to a chemist for a packet of "Rough on Rats," but as he had none m stock she took " Batten's Vermin Killer," and about two hours afterwards her husband gave th« alarm, and medical attendance was at ouce procured, and fatal consequences averted. . Accused was remanded till Wednesday.
