The Penguin with the southern portion of the mai!, this afternoon. Among the passengers were Constable McDonnell, m charge of W. D. : J&ckson, remanded for embezzler ment. Agrarian outrages are increasing m the County Kerry. Every day cases of incendiarism and -hamstringing of cattle are reported. • A collision occurred on the Metropolitan District Underground railway at En.'lsourt, owinsr to the signals being broken find unmanageable. One engineer and the stoker vroro killed, five others bring badly injured. A smallpox epidemic is raping at Montreal. The theatres are closed, and disinfectants are used m watering the streets. Masses are celebrated at the Catholic Churches. The Ursuline convent at Ballfrnckle, m the County of Wnterford, was burned down on August 25; all the inmates escaped. John Raskin is- slowly dv.ing from cerebral disease, accompanied by- insomnia.
