The- Palmerston North Musical and Dramatic Society e^ve their second performance last* evening m", the Theatre Royal- m aid of the Public Library. The attafodance was quite as large as that whiciij greeted the inaugural entertainment, standing room having to' be accepted by . quite a number who were late m coming. Of the performance we cannot speak too lughly, both the Dramatic uud Musical portions being rendered \yith faultless effect and efficiency. The following programme as advertised was given ..without alteration,: and the audience, from c&mmencemet to finish of the were kept m a continual 'state of merriment and plcasuruble enjoyment :— FIRST PART. The members are to be congratulated on the: excellent manner m which they have so. successfully, m all respects, produced |their second entertainment, and we have no doubt that the results achieved will incite to a development m a greater degree ofc that talent ■ which is unmistakably possessed by them. The Orchestra of the Society made its first appearance last evening and rendered the items as given m ; the programme with capital effect, and really surprised a good many whe were unaware that such a combination of good instrumentality existed m the place. On the whole the entertainment was a grand success m every respect, the result of which . will substantially suplement the funds of the Public Library. The public will doubtless look. forward, with pleasurable anticipation, to the third entertainment, which will conclude the Society's first season, and which we believe will' take place m a couple of months' time. ■■■'■'
