Tt was recently stated b«fore a Civil Service Commissioner m Victoria, that a post office H^rk named Valentine Brown had absolutely had nothing 'to dp for months except sit on a stool and sign for his pay. The Melbourne Punch gave a caricature of him with his tongue hanging out, and suggested that lie should be emp'oj'ed m that position for the people to wet their stamps on at the Post Office. For this Brown sued Punch for libel, damages £250. Verdict for defendant. There is nothing like cheek.
