Floral Presentation.
While the Queen and Princess Beatrice were staying at Aix-les-Bains the other day, some Australian ladies were staying at a hotel there, one being a young lady of 16, who was very anxious to he pre.«ent«d to Royalty, and as it happened to be the Princess's birthday she sent to ask if she woulil accept a ' bouquet from anine Australian ladies on behalf of Ne^ 1 South Wales. They were lold she woiild be delighte(l,Bo they sent to Nice for some beautiful flowers, and the young girl was to present them. As soon as the English resident* heard of this they thought they would present some too, and started oft ltefore the Australians, accompanied by the English chaplain, who was to introduce them. When the Australian ladies arrived at the villa they found the English deputation still waiting. Soon after General Sir H. Ponsonhr, the Queen's equerry came m. Up jumped the chaplain :'* Of course the English ladies will present theirs first." " No, " said the General " i he Australia^ ladies first." Two or threeldays afterwards the Qpeen sent f.rthe Australian ladies to be presented to her.
