♦ Stevens and Gorton's Report.
Our sale at Marton on 4th September was well attended and we had our vard.s fairly filled with both cattle ami sheep. With the exception oC a couple of pcn> of well-bred 4-yr heifers passed m at M' 6 5s we sold all the cattle and every pen of sheep excepting <a small lot of Bl> lionets. The prices obtained wore satisfactory, details given below. Our sale on Tuesday at Palmerston was very well attended and we had a first-class lot of cattle yarded, 250 head. The bidding, however, was decidedly dull and a great many lots were passed m. We subsequently cleared must of the lots at satisfactory rates. "We quote following prices : — Cattle. — At Marton : 3-yr steers, £4 4s ; 2-yr steers, £3 3s ; cows, £2 8s Oil ; 2-yr heifers, M 2s ; yearling steers, £2 ;year ling heifers, 255. . Sheep.— Fat wethers, 13s 6d ; ewes m lamb, poor condition, 8s Gd ; forward ewes, lls 3d ; hoggets, 10s 3.1. Cattle. — At Palmerston : fit cows, £4 8s Gd ; forward bullocks, £6 los ; 3 to 4yr steers, £5 2s Gd ; small beef, £6 ; milch cows, £6 15s to £5 ; cows, £2 15 ; 18-months, mixed, £.2 10s.
