A very successful concert m aid of (he Catholic Church, Woodville, look plac • on Saturday eveuing, and was largety attended by a most appreciatire and fashionable audience. Assistance by ladies and gentle.-nen from Napier, Palmerston, and other places helped to produce a programe which would be a credit to many of our large towns. The inu.sic.il portion of the entertainment wns particularly well carried out, and included some very choice and well rendered items, which were heartily applauded by the audience. The concert on the whole was ns successful and enjoyable a one as has ever been held m Woodville We believe it is the intention of the Crs. to resign en masse on Wednesday evening. A rumour was current to-day to the effect that the Wanganui Crs. will- after all be heavy losers through the friendly actions which have been taken. It is now stated that the fines must be paid into the hands of the Borough Council, and not to plaintiff, on account of tho lattor being an officer of tho Borough, viz., Auditor. The new school at Terrace End will be opened to-morrow, tho school furniture having been removed there to-day. On Wednesday it will bo closed, while Mr Guthrie,t'ie new master, is removing his household effects into his residence, and on Thursday it will be reopened by Mr Guthrie. The present master m charge, Mr Nye, goes to Stoney Creek. We hear that the Feilding prospectors are more than satisfied with the indications at Pohangina, and that their claim has been already pegged off, and work is to ho actively put m hand forthwith. We can oniy wish that their most sanguine expectations may be more than realised. Messrs C. M.
