Wanganui Stock Quotations.
MS FREEMAN R. JACKSON'S FORT- .. NIGHTLY STOCK REPORT.
Wanganui, Wednesday. I have to report a general dullness m the stock trade during the past fortnight. At St. Hill-street the pens were well filled with cattle, but the bulk had to be turned out unsold, vendors seeking higher prices than purchasers are willing to give. As the spring advances prices will rally again, but the prices of fat stock will not warrant any great rise m store?. Sheep are fairly well competed for, though with the low prices of wool and tallow, rates for fat sheep after shearing must fall. It will therefore be well for settlers to base their calculations m the purchase of stores on the rates now ruling for wool and " tallow, as there does not seem much prospect of these articles of produce increasing m value. At the sale on Saturday horses sold at usual prices, good animals meeting with plenty of: competition.
