The Government have received a telegram from the Agent-General, Mr Murray Smith, stating that the whole question of the reduction of the telegraphio charges is unsettled, pending the result of the proposals made by the German delegates. Mr Service, m his reply, urged Mr Murray Smith to use^ every effort to obtain the desired modification of the tariff, The man Robinson, charged with robbery' from th,e Hotha.m branch of the Federal Bank, has been committed for trial, bail being accepted. Sydney, Thursday. Arrived— Union Steamship Company's g.s. Wakatipu, from Wellington, this morning. The same Company's s.s. Manapouri left for Auckland this morning. Mr G. Augustus Sala, who is a passenger by the Manapouri, will commence his tour of New Zealand at the end of next week. His opening lecture will be delivered m Auckland.
