Boycotting.

The Napier News m an article on " boycotting" a newspaper observes: — That fair play which is tho boast and pride of every Britisher, will, we believe, be admitted by all right-thinking persons us one of the best nutioiril characteristics of our countrymen. Wherever you find the Briton, it is only necessary to appeal to his sense of fair play to sic that justice is secured. Now it is simple fair play we ask for m connection with the News. Let some of our readers tin. .derefcihd, that m certain quarters this paper is boing boycotted. We do not say that those who are opposed to it m politics should not ealeavor to defeat it fairly and honestly, and among our opponents are many whom we can respect, who work against us openly. But there are others who arc a disgrace to the ranks of our opponents — narrowminded men, who carry their opposition with them m evary position they occupy — who use their position to damage this journal, and we aro sure these men are looked upon with contempt by their own party. There are some men who are not content with fair opposition, but they boycott the paper. Last week a servile individual who is the creature of ono of our opponents oil owed his private poli tical feeling to operate upon him m a public capacity. In his public capacity he took upon himself to injure this iournal. It is actions of this class which are m direct violation of British fair-play. ! This journal is established to give every class justice. In its columns every man und woman can get fair play, and on those grounds all who bolieve an outspoken organ of public opinion should support it.
