The Wanganui Borough Council Prosecution.

Carson has been sued for iildopr; pr S. Manson, £350; Cr D. Murray, £700^; and Crs P. Bell and J. Laird other. | amounts making lip an aggregate 6f..| v JE2-109. One test case will be taken, and * if judgment goes for tije plainttffj jndg- j ment will be confessed by the defendants j for all the other amounts. The defendants , fully expect to be fined m the ' penalties sued ,for. : In not a single case was the' claim" a contract. ' Mr Carson's was for | advertisements ordered by the Town Clerk, Mr Murray's for ironwork done to the order of the foreman ot works, Mr James Laird's.for trees supplied to theDoriiain Board, and Mr Bell's and Mr Manson's for clothing, supplied to'- the 1 ? order of the Hospital steward. The claim is for £50 for each time the Cr sat since he "committed the alleged illegal" act. As I stated before the- cost of the^ summonses alone has amounted to over": £30. The solicitors for the prosecufci^ii are Messrs Borlase and Barnicoat. .The . cases will be Heard on Friday next^'.
