BOROUGH STATIONERY.

(TO THE EDITOR OP THE STANDARD.) Sir, — At the last meeting of the Borough Council it was stated, on my application, to supply stationery, that my prices were 50 per cent, dearer than Mr Park's. Knowing such to be an utter imposibility I waited on Mr Keeling, the Town Clerk, who had valued the articles m question, and he Said the prices were as nearly alike as possible at both shops. Councillor Larcomb upon finding that an error had been committed immediately wrote the following letter to the Manawatu Times. But for reasons, best known to the Editor he refused to insert it. Further comment is unnecessary. Trusting you will insert this. — Welch & Co. 25th Aug., 1885.

(The Editor Manaw^tu Times.) Sib, — When at the last Council meeting I made a statement to the effect that some of the stationery required by the Council had been obtained at a prfoe 50 per cent, less at Mr Park's than another local stationers. At the time I was, led to believe that an account book measuring 16 inche by 11 inches was obtained from Mr Pa- k for the same price as one measuring 13 inches by 9 inches, but I have since been informed that the prices quoted for the same articles were about the same at both places. The larger size of book not being m stock at the time except at Mr Parks. — I am, &c. E. Larcomb. 17th Aug., 1885.
