NEW COUNCILLORS.

(to the editor of the standard.)

Sir, — I see a letter m your yesterday's issue about some of onr old tried men coming back to the Council again. I hope it will be so. I believe there is some good men m now, but a few of them makes everything go wrong, so I think the best thing to be done m the matter is to clear out all them that is no good. I see by the Times the other night that it was trying to get the ratepayers not to vote for Mr Hankins, I hope Mr Hawkins will come forward, and I believe Mr Hawking will be pujt back m the Council again, where I think he has proved to he a good Councillor, I do believe that if all the Councillors was .as good as Councillor Hawkins our £50,000 Loan would have been settled by this time. I think it is a good job the Mayor is a good tempered man, or else he could not stand the jangling going on every meeting night with the clique. So Ido hope }hat some good man will oome forward and tako the place of these that are coming out just now. and I also hope that Councillor Hawkins will stand for the seat again, and show the Times and its supporters, that he has the support of the ratepayers of No. 4 Ward. By inserting ( the above, you will oblige, One that Pays Rates.
