(BY ELECTRIC TELKOBiPB.— COPYBIGHT.) (reuter's telegrams.) Melbourne, Monday. Further communications between the Governments of New Zealand and Victoria on the subject of intercolonial cable rates have been made public. New Zealand agrees to a reduction of the tariff provided Victoria contributes to the sub sidy for the New Zealand cable and the colony. Victoria agrees to do so, provided New Zealand is willing to pay her quota towards subsidising the line between Victoria and Tasmania. The Argus, m an article on the subject, shews how prohibitive rates charged- on the New Zealand cable would hamper traffic, and quotes figures to show & falling off of the cable revenue during the last two years. The Hon. Mr Griffiths, Premier of Queensland, has completed a draft of the. Federation Accepting Bill, and the measure will be submitted for the approval of the various colonies concerned.
