Cr West proposed that, the Foreman of Work9 receive instructions to complete work authorized to be executed in North and Pitt-street without any farther delay .and also to have metalled, six chains in Ferguson -sreet and Alexandef -street. A warm disoussion took plsice'beiween the Mayor and Cr West over the manner in which certain works authorised to be exeouted had been, delayed and others of not so pressing: a nature carried* out. Ultimately it was resolved that works authorised by the Council should be done in the order of their rates as brought before the Council. Cr Benfcley brought tip the matter of connecting George ; arid. Broad-streets through Coleman Place. After some discussion it was pointed oiit that the sale of Borough reserves to take place in September neifewould enable the Comt»any'tp purchase the land in Ooleman Place and that so ■'' soon as this was done plans Avould be ' : prepared for : 'thework.
