In the meantime delegates appointed for the purpose are to confer with the Wairarapa Society with a view to inducing it to move its shows from Carterton to Masterton. T j William Blinkhom, accommodation house keeper at Mauriceville Junction, has been fined £15 for sly-grog Selling. The liquor found in the house was confiscated. Timartt, Thursday. The Spur Hut Hotel at Waitohi, occupied by W. Auld, was burnt on Tuesday evening. The insurance is £170 in the New Zealand and Victoria 1 offices. The loss is about £100. The origin of the fire is supposed to be a spark from the wood in the kitchen range. Auckland, Thursday. John Harboard, who was at rested on board the Suva, has been sentenced to three months' imprisonment for robbery at Wellington. The charge of stoaling £5 from a passenger was dismissed. A quantity of hoisery found in his possession is believed to be proceeds of burglary in other parts of the Colony. The boxing match batween Ma'thews and Wilkinson, for £30 a-side and the championship of New Zealand, was won by Matthews.
