It is interesting to compare the difference between the English and the Australian summers. The three hottest months m South Avis' ralia are usually those of January, February, and March ; corresponding to June, July, and August, m the Northern Hemisphere. From the Anglo-New Zealander we learn that on the hottest" day last summer the thermometer registered 103*8 fahr, m the shade, at Adelaide, whereas the highest temperature attained at Greenwich was 94-2, m the shade. The first of tb.3ae was on February 4, 1885, and the latter on August 11th, 1884. The lowest temperature experienced m Adelaide during the three summer months alluded to was 479, on the night of December 22.3, 1884. From a table that is supplied by the same journal we noti«e thot on three occasions the mean weekly maximum temperature was higher at Greenwich than during the corresponding three weeks at Adelaide. We also find that the general average of the maximum summer temperature at Greenwich was only G 1 below that of Adelaide, and that the lowest general average at Greenwich was but G g 9, below that of Adelaide The difference betwean tho English and tho Australian climates is evidently not so groat as is Boinotimea supposed.
