(to the editor op the standard.) , Sir, — In order to set at rest the. mind • of your correspondent "Impartiality,'? who seems greatly exercised at the Lib • rary Committee's action m sending home w£loo through Mr Park for books, I. may state that for the past three years the Committee have been dealing with Messrs Bell & Bradfnte, of Edinburgh, for books, from which firm : they have be^n obtaining them suitably bound forf public libraries at a less charge than the 1 binding alone would come to. in the colonies. Mr Park has now become the local agent of the firm, and- the Com-? mitfcee as a matter of course, forwarded their order through him, as they did also the last previous order, sent some nine months ago. I may state that the making use of the local agency m this way saves both trouble and delay, and adds nothing to the cost of the books, since the Committee select and pay at the rates specially quoted for public libraries by Messrs Bell & Bradfute, without any agency charge whatever. — I am, &c, • R.
