Accident.

A settler named Magmuson who was felling bush near Bunnythorpe this morning met with a severe accident through a falling totara striking him. The unfortunate man seeing the tree coming was frightened and not quick enough in eluding it, there being a creek on one side of him and the railway line on the other. The tree when it fell did not descend entirely to the ground or the accident might have been a fatal one, but falling within a foot of the earth the force was somewhat broken. Mr E. Johansen and another with whom the injured man was working, took him to the Bunnythorpe station and had him brought down to Palmerston by the afternoon train when his injuries were attended to by Dr Macintire.
