;(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Napier, Tuesday.' The news of a fatal boat accident comes from Taupo. It appears that on Sunday morning Mr J, B. Aslunan, of the Public WorksDepartment, and Mr "'Kingsfordj'' of the. Telegraph. Department, went, out for a sail on the lake, and w lien about a mild from the shore the boat capsized,but both, men succeeded m getting on top .of the boat which,- however, kept rolling over, throwing them into tlie water. Even-, tually Mr Ashman became numbed with the cold, and , 'exhausted, and jl.the last '"time 'the boat rolled he sank. " After some hours, the boat drifted, ashore, and Mr Kingston! was found more dead than alive, und now lies m a 'precarious condition. ■■'• ; The. cteeeased is universally respectod, and ,was -for .many years -Inspector of Bbads m the Taupo District About 42 - months, ago he .paid a visit to England, and retimied three months ago, ..and reentered tlie Government service. He was under 40 years of age.
