It states thacl M. de G'ers and M. B'nige, the Finanuql Minister, had an audience with the Czar,* m which he spoke of addressing an appeal \ to the Russian people. They warned him of the state or Russian -finances. The Emperor at oncer* plied, " If the war should break oat I hereby promise I will sacrifice to it the entire property of the house of Rdmknoff, and I am Q«rtain that ray people will not aUb>w "in j. example to stand alone-' The! property b£ the house of Romanoff iswortn- about thirty millions sterling, bat this is m jewolb, pictures, and- brtc .a brae.
