Terrace End School.

The departure of the headmistress oi the above school has been regretfullylooked forward to by both the children and pupil teachers attending, and it was yesterday made the occasion of a present ation to Mrs Harvey by the Mayor on their behalf. : His Worship said he had been requested to present Mrs Harvey with a slight token of esteem m which she was held by both assistant teachers aud children. He had great pleasure m acceediug\ to that request, as he knew that Mrs Harvey had labored disinterestedly and with much painstaking care, and also under considerable disadvantages. The auoceaofuljresults which had evolved from her good management and mode of im parting the requisite knowledge to the scholars, spoke for itself. He could hardly Und. words to express his satisfaction with the manner m which she had trained the children, and also m the general management of the school. He had the greatest pleasure m - x presenting Mrs Harvey with these tokens of esteem and regard, and hoped that they would always remind the recipient of the respect and love of the children and assistant teachers at the Terrace End School for herself. : Mrs Harvey m suitable words acknowledged the kindly expression of esteem and hoped that her successor would receive their respect and consideration. The children haying sung some ap propriate yerseß learnt for the occasion the school broke dp for the day. The presentation consisted of a handsome ink-stand with nickel plated top m oak case aqd a leather writing case.
