Young men's Improvement Class.
On Monday evening 1 last at. the WesJeyan Ha]l the members of the above* class met together, the Rev. Mr Bunn, president, occupying the chair. The business for that evening was a. debate— Free Trade v. Protection,, Mr T. r Hall ; for the former, and Mr J. Grace for Proi tectian. The papers of both these gen. tlenien. showed tljat they had taken con. siderable pains to .prepare them and were listened to .by the , other members with evideflVappreciation and interest. At the conclusion of the debate between the leaders Messrs R. Leary, J. Dillon, Jameson, Tingey, and others expressed their view? on the subject and eventually the voices of the members being taken were declared m favor of Free Trade. Next. Monday evening the "meeting will be an open one when it is expected there will be a laree attendance of the public. The subject for that' evening will besa debate, on Capital Punishment, Messrs W. Stubbs and J. Gracefor, and Messrs R. Leary and T. Hall against. The meeting will be enlivened by music, recitations, ,&o. and will be pleasurably looked forward to by many.
